grass1Looking to turn your dirt lot into a lush lawn? With sod laying from Jeff Fuller Designs, lawn landscaping is a snap. Over the course of a day or two, your property can be transformed from a tabula rasa to a grassy oasis. Here’s how we install sod in our landscaping projects:

Planning & Irrigation

First and foremost, we’ll discuss a plan for your lawn. We can draft up renderings to show the layout of your lawn, as well as the best plan for irrigating your new grass. Then, it’s on to installing irrigation. If you don’t already have a system in place, we can dig trenches, install a manifold, lay piping, and attach sprinkler heads throughout your landscape. Then, it’s time to prep the rest of the site.

Prepping the Site

First, we’ll fill in the troughs we’ve dug. Then, we grade the landscape to ensure that there aren’t irregularities throughout the lot. We strive to remove rock that may impede growth or leave your lawn with lumps. We’ll also make sure that the grading of your lawn won’t cause water to pool in a low spot or swale. Next, we’ll assess the soil of your lot. If you have soil that may struggle to support your sod, we may have to add topsoil. Once your site is properly prepped, it’s time to lay sod.

sodLaying Sod

We collaborate with a local sod producer to bring in fresh sod for your site. Sod is specially grown in their fields until it matures. Then, it is cut into strips with a machine, and rolled into rolls. These rolls are placed on pallets that are promptly delivered to your site. Next, our team begins rolling out the sod throughout your lawn. We utilize sod knives to cut the edges of your sod to meet our plans and to perfectly match the edges of your landscaping, your driveway, your patio, and other obstacles throughout your lawn. Each sod roll is carefully laid to ensure that there are no gaps or overlaps across the surface of your lawn. Sod gaps can cause the grass to dry out and die. On the other hand, overlapping sod pieces can cause lumps throughout your new yard. Once sod has been laid across the entirety of the intended landscape segment(s), you’ll have a brand new lawn!

Right off the bat, it’s imperative that we water your freshly laid lawn. Your lawn will require more water than usual during its first month in your landscape. We’ll let you know how to properly water your lawn in its youth. We can also run the sprinkler system to ensure that all of the heads we’ve installed are operating as expected. It’s important to have full coverage when watering your lawn. We also provide lawn services and treatments; we’ll gladly check on the health of your lawn throughout its lifetime.

If you’re curious about our sod laying services, or if you’re ready to get started, don’t hesitate to get in touch with us! We’re here to transform your lot into a lush, green, grassy oasis!
